UK to Ukraine: Mission Successful

Mission Successful

12th December 2022

Cefetra’s UK to Ukraine mission has been an outstanding success.

The artic lorry departed from Hungerford, Berkshire on 28th November and made its way to the Ukrainian/Polish border filled to the brim with essential supplies, including flour and generators.

The mission was a massive collaboration between Cefetra Ltd, the ‘UKtoUkraine’ and HAFGB ‘Humanitarian Air Fund Based in Great Britain’ charities retail giants Premier Foods, Allied Mills and many more.

The farm was transformed into UKtoUkraine’s HQ. It was a hive of activity with everyone buzzing around packing boxes, checking stock lists and loading the lorry for over 4 hours to ensure everything fitted.

This was the second trip Cefetra took part in, with operations manager Mick Brennand once again taking the lead in driving the 2,600-mile round trip. This time he was supported by 18-year-old Josh Rushford who had only just passed his class one driving test 3 weeks prior.

Simon Wilcox said: “It is thought that more than 12 million people are currently in need of humanitarian assistance across Ukraine. Using our contacts and partners, we wanted to help the charity working so hard to help the Ukrainian people as we move into the winter period and ahead of Christmas.”

It was a real team effort, with Margaret Carlin from our execution department sorting out all the necessary paperwork, Allied Mills and Hovis who very kindly donating two pallet loads of flour each and Redman Engineering sorting a European spec curtain sider trailer.”

Gary Sharkey, Hovis Procurement Director: “Hovis was delighted to donate two pallets, which equates to 1,428 bags of home-baking flour for Mick’s mission to Ukraine. Cefetra’s initiative to support people affected by this conflict in Ukraine is fantastic. We wish Mick well through his journey.”

Allied Mills says: “Flour is used to make about a third of all food here in the UK, so we know how important it is to the food supply chain. We’re happy to be able to support in getting this important ingredient to the people of Ukraine.”
