Grain Marketing
Commodity trading markets have become increasingly complex, dynamic and volatile in recent years. The support of a strong grain trading partner is now more critical than ever for farmers.
We offer many strategies and contracts for growers, and have the professional market knowledge to ensure maximum returns for our clients even at times of volatility in the market.
Here are some of the different contracts we have available:
• Pool contracts with four movement periods and cash advances (Harvest, Autumn, Spring, Long)
• Minimum Premium contracts for Milling Wheats and Malting Barley
• Harvest Move, Price Later contracts for Feed Wheat, Feed Barley and OSR
• Upside contracts for Feed Wheat and Malting Barley
Premium Crops – a division of Cefetra Ltd
Premium Crops was established in 2001 and is the UK’s leading speciality crop contracting and supply business. The business which is based in Hampshire in the Southern UK, operates a contract farming type model, responding to demand by customers by contracting crops with farmers.
The business is about long-term, often multi-year supply agreements with key European customers. It fulfills customer demand by contracting crop production in the UK and near continent. Customers rely on Premium Crops for sustainable, traceable, long-term and risk managed supply chains. The strength of the business is the experience and knowledge of the key staff, built up over 30 years of specialist crop contracting
Premium Crops fulfills its customers’ requirements by selling farmers their planting seed, supplying a buy-back contract and the technical know-how to best-grow the crop. It then organizes the logistics from farm to end-user. The contracts are “back to back” with no speculative element.
Grain Hedging
Our origination clients can reap the benefits of our hedging strategies, which utilise the markets to enhance returns.
Built on proven commodity risk management solutions, strategies are designed to consistently take advantage of outright price movement or basis opportunities in the physical cash market.
Grain Storage
With storage sites strategically located across the UK and Ireland, we can provide what you need, when you need it, all while ensuring that your product is always delivered and stored with traceability and product safety guaranteed.
From deep-water export facilities in Immingham and Southampton, where we can ship vessels of up to 60,000 mt, to our coaster size vessels for grain shipment located up and down the country, we have every angle covered. We also have an extensive range of storage facilities around the UK, with our largest store holding 70,000 mt.
UK/Irish Distribution rights for POLY4
Cefetra has a long-term agreement for the exclusive European marketing and distribution rights of POLY4 fertilizer. POLY4 is a multi-nutrient, low-chloride fertilizer certified for organic farming.
POLY4 derives from a naturally occurring mineral polyhalite, that will be mined and produced in the UK by Anglo American Woodsmith Ltd following the acquisition of Sirius Minerals by Anglo American Plc in March 2020.
POLY4 contains four of the six essential macro nutrients that all crops need to grow: potassium, sulphur, magnesium and calcium – all in one product. This fertilizer has several key benefits including crop yield and quality improvement and sustained nutrient delivery profile. POLY4 is a granular product that handles and stores effectively and can be spread with standard equipment up to 36 metre width. In order to feed the planet’s growing population, there is a global need to adopt sustainable farming practices that boost crop yields while using less land and reducing environmental impact.
The use of an organically-certified, natural product such as POLY4 will help to lower the carbon footprint. POLY4, which has no requirement for chemical processing, has the lowest CO2e emissions compared to other fertilizer products. POLY4 also helps to rebalance the soil structure and to improve soil nutrient legacy while providing essential nutrients required for plant growth.
